Article I

Name

  • The name of this organization shall be the Solano College Chapter of the Community College Association and California Teachers Association CCA/CTA/NEA hereinafter called the Association. 
  • Members of this Association shall hereafter be called faculty.  The term faculty shall be defined as any person who is engaged in or who is on limited leave of absence from professional educational work, is an employee of Solano Community College District, and whose primary assignment is such as not to hold supervisory responsibility over other certificated employees to such an extent as not to be represented in the negotiations process by the bargaining unit.  Faculty include but are not limited to instructors, librarians, counselors, and individuals employed to perform a service that is non-supervisory and non-managerial. 

Article II

Affiliation

  • The Association shall be a member of the California Community College Association (CCA). 
  • The Association shall be a chartered Chapter of the California Teachers Association (CTA). 
  • The Association shall be an affiliated local association of the National Education Association (NEA). 

Article III

Duration

The duration of this Association shall be unlimited.

Article IV

Purposes

The primary purposes of this Association shall be to:

  • Represent all its members in their relations with management and the Governing Board and to seek to be the exclusive representative of appropriate units of faculty in all matters relating to employment conditions and professional relations including, but not limited to, wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment; 
  • Form a representative body that strives for consensus on professional matters to speak with authority for all members; 
  • Provide an opportunity for continuous study and action on problems of the profession; 
  • Promote professional attitudes and ethical conduct among members; 
  • Encourage cooperation and communication between the profession, the community, and the Solano College administration and Board of Trustees; 
  • Foster good fellowship among members; and 
  • Raise the standards of the academic profession. 

Article V

Policy Making Body

The Executive Board, as defined by the bylaws, is the policy making body of the Association.  It shall be responsible to the members of the Association.

Article VI

Amendments

This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority of Active members of the Association voting in a valid election as defined in the Bylaws and Standing Rules.
